Your loyalty card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet

Apple Wallet and Google Wallet can hold a loyalty card in your shop's colours. Customers add it by scanning your QR code, with no app to install; at each visit you scan it and it updates on their phone by itself. You don't need an Apple or Google developer account: the loyalty tool creates and signs the card.

How it works

The Wallet is the app where your customers already keep their bank card, train tickets and boarding passes: Apple Wallet on iPhone, Google Wallet on Android. A loyalty card fits in the same way.

  1. You create your card in the loyalty tool: name, logo, colours, rule (stamps, points or cashback).
  2. You display a QR code at the counter. Customers scan it with their camera and tap “Add to Apple Wallet” or “Add to Google Wallet”. It takes about thirty seconds, with no account.
  3. At each visit, you scan the QR code on their card from your phone. The stamp is added and the card updates in their Wallet within seconds.

Nothing to install for the customer. For you, no hardware: your smartphone is the scanner.

What you can customise

Apple and Google set the card layout. You choose neither the font, nor the size, nor the position of the logo. You do choose what makes your shop recognisable:

Apple Wallet (iPhone)Google Wallet (Android)
Background colourYesYes
Text colourYesNo, Google picks it
LogoYes, square or wideYes, square or wide
ImageStrip under the header; large background image on iOS 27 and laterLarge image under the card
Programme line or titleYes (“10 coffees = 1 free”)Yes

With Quardy, any colour, the text colour, the wide logo and the card line are free. The background image is in the Pro plan, with framing you can adjust for each format (recent iPhone, older iPhone, Android).

Updates and notifications

This is the Wallet’s big advantage over cardboard: the card is alive.

  • After each visit, the new balance shows on the card. On iPhone, a notification can announce it on the lock screen.
  • Your messages (“Fresh pumpkin pie this weekend”) appear on the card, with a notification. They only go to customers who agreed to your messages. At Quardy this is the Pro plan, with ready-made audiences: new customers, customers away for 30 or 60 days.
  • Customers stay in control: they can turn off a card’s notifications or delete it. One message a week is often plenty.

iPhone or Android: what changes

For you, nothing: you create one card and the tool builds an Apple version and a Google version. For the customer, only two differences:

  • The look: the Apple card follows Apple’s style (logo at the top, large balance), the Google card follows Google’s (centred logo, image below).
  • The text colour: on Android, Google chooses it itself so it stays readable on your background colour.

Your sign-up page just needs to show the right button for the customer’s phone. Quardy does this automatically.

Getting started

  • Pick a bold colour and a logo that reads well when small: the card is recognised by its colour in the Wallet stack first.
  • Write the rule on the card (“10 coffees = 1 free”): customers see it every time they open it.
  • Offer the card at every visit during the first weeks: that’s when most of your regulars add it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an Apple developer account to create an Apple Wallet card?

No. The card is created and signed by the loyalty tool, with its own Apple certificate. You have no developer account or certificate to manage.

Can my Android customers add the card?

Yes, with Google Wallet, available on most Android phones. The rare phones without Google services don't have it: those customers can use the loyalty tool's app if it has one, as Quardy does.

Does the card update by itself?

Yes. When you add a stamp, the tool sends the new version of the card to Apple or Google, and it changes on the customer's phone within seconds, without them doing anything.

Can I choose the font or the logo position?

No, neither on Apple nor Google: the card layout is set by the Wallet. You choose the background colour, the logo, the text shown and, depending on the tool, an image.

Can the customer delete the card?

Yes, at any time from their Wallet, and they can also turn off the card's notifications. All the more reason to send only useful messages.

Does the card show on Apple Watch?

Yes. A card added to Apple Wallet also appears on the paired Apple Watch: customers can show it on their wrist.
